The Heil Powered Speaker (HPS-5) is a two-way, powered speaker designed to be used with the Heil Parametric Receive Audio System Equalizer (PRAS EQ). The HPS-5 in combination with the PRAS EQ provides unmatched speech articulation and brings new dimensions to receive audio quality in amateur radio operations. The end result is a fantastic listening experience that helps pull out difficult signals and relieves ear fatigue for operators.

The HPS-5 features a low-distortion, highly efficient Class A 24-watt amplifier that drives a specially designed 5” low-frequency speaker mounted in a resonant sealed enclosure. A passive extended crossover drives a 2” high-frequency tweeter.

The HPS-5 has two rear panel audio inputs: a balanced 600 ohm XLR input and an unbalanced 1/8” input. Both inputs are adjusted by a single-level control. There is also a balanced 600 ohm XLR output for daisy chaining two or more HPS-5 powered speakers.

This product is transitioning to new packaging and contents. New stock HPS-5 are now supplied with a 2.5 mm barrel to powerpole adapter cable that is compatible with common 12-volt, 2-amp DC power supplies. New stock HPS-5 are no longer supplied with a 12-volt power supply. Stock shipped directly from Heil will be the new stock as stated. Please be aware that dealers may have old, new, or mixed stock. I heard people talking about this HPS-5 speaker with the Heil Parametric Equalizer. I purchased the set at the 2025 Dayton Hamvention. I am very happy that I made that purchase. I was not sure if it would be as good as I had heard. Once I plugged it in to my IC-7300 and started using it, I have found that it really does help with making stong signals sound great and weak ones listenable. It isn’t a miracle worker. There are signals that even it can’t help, but I have heard signals that I could not have heard before. I do recommend the HPS-5 and the Parametric Equalizer.

Love the sound of my Heil HPS-5 played through my Heil Parametric Equalizer. Brings in marginal contacts as good as can be expected. Strong signals sound wonderful. Excellent choice paired with my iCom 7300.
