This is an excellent dynamic microphone. Great for radio, podcasting, and recording. I have quite a few microphones, and the PR-40 rivals my condenser mics. At almost twenty years old, it is still going strong. I will never part with it. You will not regret owning this microphone.

Excellent choice when paired with a Yaesu FTDX 101D. Amazing audio. I have two. Luckily I was able to get them when the chrome and the gold finishes were still available.

I have owned several PR 40’s and one PR781, each one has it’s own unique sound. But overall, I will add another PR40 to my shack.

I have one on my Kenwood and get great reports of the sound

I have my PR40G just over a year. I use it for HAM radio, and it’s the only mic used in my shack, not that there aren’t at least a dozen others (including a PR30 and HM10) collecting dust.

I’ve owned my PR 40G for around 10 years now and maybe it’s just me but it just keeps getting better. The last Mic I’ll ever own!

Very solid build, sound & price compared to other broadcast microphones. Definitely packs a punch for the price.

2-23-24 Good audio reports with a Yaesu FTdx 1200 transceiver and SB200. Compared the PR40 with the PR22 and PR30. The PR22 (A) and PR30 (B) also got good SSB reports. The PR40 (C) got better reports switching A to B to C with no change in mic gain or EQ adjustments. The PR40 compared with the EV RE20 was a better choice (and better price) for recording voice overs.
Next test comparison will be with a Shure SM7B, SM7db and the Yaesu 1200 with a small Macie mixer for phantom power (SM7db model).

I’m using The PR-40 with a Yaesu FT DX 101 MP. I get nothing but great audio reports. I’ve been using it for about 6 months.
